Bella

Little and Mighty Bella

Bella weighs all of thirteen and a half pounds. Sometimes, I’m baffled that so much love can come from such a small creature! Bella is always affectionate and playful. She loves my son and I a lot and brings a great many smiles to the people who meet her.

Bella’s long legs give a slight impression of a larger dog. Her bark is loud. She barks when she needs to communicate something important. I love this about her. I love that although she’s small, and perhaps because she’s small, she speaks up for herself! Go Bella!

Living with Bella is fun. We go out and about in our big, small town.

Walking around the block is our most regular outing. I window shop while we walk and Bella looks for people who might pet her. She is never shy. I think Bella has met every business owner on our block. Mostly, she knows the patrons. The locals. Bella is on the map!

Bella and I recently enjoyed sitting outside at the new bakery in town. I chose a table and Bella lied down on the cement in the morning light by my chair. She was obviously relaxed.

Sundays are quiet downtown. I didn’t see anyone out and about at first, but after a few minutes, I noticed people looking at us from their cars. They started to stop soon afterward. This made me feel happy. I want the bakery to be successful.

I noticed how pretty Bella was lying there in the sunlight. The outfit I’d worn was for comfort, but the colors were nice and made me feel good. The painted blue metal tables and chairs went perfectly with the white china cups and plates. The coffee was good. The chocolate eclair was heavenly.

In that moment, things seemed just fine, and they were.

Bella awaits as I write. She’s asking to go outside.

Thanks for visiting DOGKISSES!

    • Hugs and Love to you too! We loved the braised cabbage! My son ate the leftovers before I could freeze any, but that was awesome too. Thank you Sue.

        • Hi Sue,

I hope this finds you well.

I reblogged your post/red cabbage recipe on my blog. This automatically created a link to the recipe and I gave a link to your blog. I assumed that since you had the reblog option available, that it was okay, but today I thought wow, I should have asked first anyway. Please let me know if you do not want me to keep that post up or if it is fine. I feel like you won’t mind.

I just love the recipe. Cooking is a task for me and when I find a recipe that’s not too difficult, taste good and also, one I can digest, it is one to remember!

          As always, your friend,

          Michelle (and Bella) xoxo.

            • Thank you, Sue! Most appreciated. I need to learn new features on my blog. I probably didn’t add a ping back or click a box for that. And yes, we are keeping warm. Staying inside a lot this week. Our pretty rock water sculpture across from my apt., is frozen. The ice is lit up at night. Last night it looked like a wizard who was changed colors and a pretty yellow dancer on the other side! I’m waiting for dark now to see what the ice turns into tonight 🙂 Sending you our love and warm hugs too xoxo

    • Thank you, Sue. I keep out of summer sun as much as possible. I’d probably do better living in your part of the world. Do you have lots of cloudy days? Oh the sun! I wish we got along better. The high heat last week got to me. I used to escape to the mountains and would right now if I had a helper. Maybe I’ll get to go in August when we have many days up to 100+ degrees. Outside of my health crashes, I’m doing alright. Bella is by my side. So soft and sweet she is. I am blessed to have her for sure.

      Love, your friend,

      Michelle (and Bella).

  4. “Bella looks for people who might pet her”, that is so cute. Our late Leonberger was the same way, always looking for people interaction and for people to pet him. It did not always work though. For example, once a lady backed away when he tried to approach, saying “sorry but your dog is so big and scary”. Most people would pet him though. Bella is really beautiful.

    • Awwh, that’s a sweet memory of Leonberger. Bella gets pets from most people. I guess her size helps her that way. And her beauty 😊

    • I had to revisit your blog to recall your Leonberger’s name. Bronco! What a beautiful name for a big hearted guy! He was beautiful. His life in your words is beautiful to read.

I admit, I couldn’t read each paragraph about his last day. I’ve had three last vet visits over the past twenty years and although I shall never forget the love and lives each dog gave and shared with us, the memory of those particular vet visits is still very sad to recall.

Thank you for sharing with us, your life with Bronco!

Bronco and Bella would have been friends if they had met.

      With respect,

      Michelle. Bella’s mom and friend.

  5. What a lovely posting this is! I can see you and Bella in front of the bakery. Can feel the companionship you share. I can’t help being reminded of the close relationship I have with my dog, Lumen. He is also loving and friendly with everyone. Bella is truly beautiful!
